I like La Habichuela--downtown. Outside is very romantic and nice--excellent food and service. You can also sit inside in the a/c. Also, people love the Plantation House, although I never ate there and also the restaurant in the Ritz is supposed to be very good.

For limos, I used Cancun limo a few times. $150 per hour--but, unlike here, the times I used them they brought the driver and another person, so my planned 20% tip of $30 turned to $50. I felt funny about giving them each just $15 since I had them take me to the airport, made them stop for groceries, etc., etc. But they are very, very good, cars nice (typical stretches with TVs that don't work!), and once they waited almost two hours for me at the airport when it took a long time to get through customs...

Fran mentioned the Ritz--they have 2 award winning 5 star restaurants--one is Italian the other has it all. Another 5 star placeis at the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach--LA JOLLA--excellent...On Isla Mujeres Hotel Villa Rolandi has wonderful food and ambience. ALso on ISLA is CASA O--another wonderful new place...

In addition to the restaurants already mentioned, you might also try La Dolca Vita...its one of our favorites in the Hotel Zone...they recently reopened the Centro location, but the one in the Hotel Zone is our favorite

One or more of the owners are always at the restaurant to make sure you receive personal attention...

...if you want the most romantic dinner you can imagine, check out Na Balam's UPSTAIRS restaurant. Nothing fancy...can't tell you about how many stars, 'cause those things never did mean anything to me...but if a ROMANTIC dinner is what you want, this is THE place - particularly if you and Your Honey are the only ones there. Their Salmon with Chaya is the best meal I've ever had anywhere during my 60 years. And I'm not a big fan of salmon! Try the Na Balam and see for yourself.

My second choice would be the Villa Rolandi. The food is wonderful and surroundings beautiful. It's just not as intimate, that's all.
