We are in need of some personal information on the Club Robinson Tulum resort. I have checked the trip reports and the hotel/resort rating section. Everything looks good, but wanted some new input to convince us to book. We have been told that the only languages spoken at the resort are German and Spanish. Also that the food was mostly German type food. Any information about this would be nice. We have a deal which has to be booked by no later than Saturday for this resort and the price seems really good. From St. Louis, with charter and AI, it is $1450 per couple. Any comments will be appricated.
We stayed at the Robinson Club last July and loved it. Yes, there are a lot of Germans at the resort but most of them speak English--English is certainly the most prevalent language you will find there. We found the German influence sort of appealing. The Robinson Club does seat large tables of 8 in their buffet--I think in an effort for people to get acquainted. I was not sure I would like this but ended up finding it very nice. The buffet does have a European flavor, but there are always hamburgers, etc on the beach and a wood fire pizza stove on the beach (delicious) which we did most every day for lunch. The breakfast buffet was out of this world with omelettes to order, lots of pastries, fresh blended juices--they used whole fruits and popped them in the blender--4 varieties every morning (or standard OJ for those of us who like tradition.) And just about everything else you would expect to find on a breakfast buffet. And of course you could reserve La Palapa for dinner in the evening for a sit down a la carte dinner. The night we ate there it was a "Western Barbecue" with steaks, chicken etc on a big grill.
I think you will find the food very good --although you may tire of the buffet by the end of the week. The common areas are very nice--the disco was a lot of fun and the beach was beautiful. Some of the facilities may seem a little less new than some of the bigger new resorts and the rooms are not really luxurious but very nice all the same. I liked the smaller feel of this resort, not sure how many rooms but it was not a zoo--very relaxing. We were very pleased with our stay there. I would go back but this year we found a great deal at the new Fiesta Grand so are trying that. I had not found any deals this year on Robinson Club prior to our booking. Book it and have fun!!!!!!

One real important question.....did they have Mexican Salsa on the buffet? The only time we have missed this was on vacation in Aruba. What types of food were on the buffet? Six of us have already decided to book if the rest of the group would make up their mind. Thanks for the help.
: Not to disparage the Club Robinson about which I know nothing, but Apple is offering the Fiesta for $795 for a week, and kids stay free. Now with tax et al that 795 became $929.
You might want to check it out.
Our price with MLT from St. Louis to the Robinson is $1450 per couple ($725 per person) which includes insurance, taxes, transfers, etc.
Yes I am sure they had salsa. They had a Mexican corner in the buffet every night with all of that kind of thing. The thing I really remember though was the guacamole!! Mmmmm. The buffet area was huge with lots of separate areas--different and bigger than I would normally think of a buffet. There was a lot of cooking going on in front of you--fun. Often a fresh fish being grilled. Many things were vegetable-meat mixtures being cooked as you watched. There were lots of salads and desserts. Always 2 fresh soups that were very good--after I had overeaten about so long I started having soup and one of their wonderful breads at lunch time (when we weren't doing pizza on the beach). I think you will be impressed with the abundance of the buffet--it does all have a European or Mediterranean style which you could get bored with by the end of the week (if you don't like that sort of thing), but there is a lot of variety within that style. I think you will all enjoy this--and like I mentioned before--if you do tire of the buffet be sure to make reservations at La Palapa for a la carte dining. Make reservations EARLY though if you want to do this!!!!!
