Fiesta Americana hotels

Am staying at the Fiesta Anericana Grand Coral Beach. I was wondering if staying at one means you are welcome to spend the day by the pool at one of the others - Condessa or Cancun? Also, I wonder if they would sell us an all-inclusive day at one of the others (as offered at the Solymar seen through the entertainment plus card). Anyone have any information or thoughts about this?

You wont WANT to leav e the FACB

In my opinion its pool and beach are far greater than any of the properties you mentioned--so why leave--you wont want to I promise. If you want to go to the solymar--use the card and pay 40 dollars--but like I said why go there at all?--the FACB is a most beautiful place in the center of all the action too.

Re: Fiesta Americana hotels

yes. you can go to the other FA's. take your Guest Card with you if you do. i'm not aware you could do an AI for a day at one of the other ones. but then i wouldn't know as i spend the day at the Coral Beach's beach. :-) tim

Sorry Greg, must disagree...

I think it would be well worth the trip to the Condessa. Wouldn't waste my time at the Cancun tho. We stayed at the Cond. last July & IMHO it is on the MOST BEAUTIFUL stretch of beach in all of Cancun!!!! Georgeous blue water & fun waves to play in! The hotel itself, to me, has more character because it is abit smaller. (Ok, guys don't bash me, we just really fell in love with this place.) I would start with breakfast on the porch of Captain's Cove & cab over to FACC for lunch at the beach bar at the Condessa (loaded nachos, yumm). Palapa over looking the beach for the afternoon. Never ate dinner there, but the resturants looked very romantic! Will try to post a pic or two on the pic page tomorrow.

Ive never been there--

so I defer to you on that--im such an facb fan couldnt imagine gong to another pool!--I know other people like the condessa--sounds like I would too.

Just got back from Cancun on our first time there as a family. Loved it!
The Fiesta Americana Corel Beach hotel is one of the nicest on the bayside of Cancun. The hotel is more of a convention hotel, which means it's luxurious to the business people and that means price also.
The pool is abosulety WONDERFUL and you have PLENTY of beach area to swim. They also offer water sports like the banana float which they pull 2-5 people behind a speed boat and also jet skis. You won't want to spend the day at any other pools or beaches. This one has the finest. Plus, I think security at the other hotels may chase you away. You can always try it if you're really up to it. Also, Corel Beach does not offer an "all inclusive" option. I already asked.
This hotel is very close to the market place which is a big plus that many other 5 star hotels do not have.
As an Oklahoman who tries to save on money, here are 10 tips I offer you at staying here in this hotel:
1. Eat at the local restaurants to save money. The hotel restaraunts are very pricey...$20 for a breakfast buffet? sheesh! A 5 minute walk to Iguana Wanna restaurant, you can get it for $10 per person...or if you want to save even more, eat at VIPs, which is also a 5 minute walk. It's owned by Wal Mart and is equal to a Denny's type of setting. There is also a McDonalds in the local mall and a Burger King.
2. Buy a styrofoam icechest and fill with your sodas or beer and use the ice machine to fill it up daily, you can also take it down the beach or pool. They pack the small icebox with a mini bar so you can't fit anything in it. (Of course, after the maid left, I emptied it out and put my stuff in there, but if you do this, you've got to put everthing back before heading out the next day.)
3. Buy snacks at the local market shop (candy bars, cookies, chips, etc.) and bring them back to the room. They have them in the mini bar, but you don't want to pay $3 for a candy bar!
4. Convert some of your money at this hotel for pesos. They offer the best exchange rate in town. Pesos are good to have for shopping, tips, etc. They also have an ATM in the lobby, but it dispenses it's cash in Pesos. As opposed to America, everybody expects tips in Cancun when doing something which includes manual labor--waiters, bus drivers, cab drivers, bellboys, etc.
5. The bus is very affordable (24 pesos for our family of four to ride) but that price is only for one way...which means one direction. If the restaurant is on the other side of the street, don't expect the bus driver to drive you specifically there, get off at the nearest stop he makes. If he has to do a U-Turn down at the end of the strip, he'll expect a double fare. Plus, they also pack as many people as he can on the bus...and when it's hot...it's even hotter on the bus.
6. Taxi cabs are a nice luxury if you choose. They will drive you specifically to your destination in AIR CONDITIONED ride. It costs 70 pesos (about $8 - excluding $2 tip) in the hotel zone for a destination and 80 pesos (about $9 - excluding $2 tip) to downtown Cancun.
7. Avoid the Time Share people at all cost. They come to you in the guise of Tourist Information stands. I've learned to ignore if anybody approaches you for something. Be nice...by saying "no thank you" and they should leave you alone. Do not give them the hotel or room number you're staying in or else they will call you and bug you by saying they'll give you wonderful discounts on day trips.
8. Day Trips. Isle of Mujeres is definitely worth the price--if you buy the all inclusive trip. It's a full day of activities in which all your drinks are covered plus a buffet for lunch and breakfast. Xcaret is a wonderful day trip. Air conditioned bus and a FULL day of fun with a wonderful night show about Mexico's history--The food is not covered on this day trip and is quite pricey...buffets were $20 each...but you've got to eat, so bring your mastercard or visa...or you can buy Hamburgers for $6 each or Hotdogs for $5 each. Also it's a good idea to wear water shoes at Xcaret. It's fun to play and snorkel, but there are rocky bottoms in the snorkeling areas.
9. Buy your snorkeling gear here in the U.S. (fins, mask and snorkel) You can take it on all of the trips and use it at your hotel. This will save you on rental. The price is $10 per day if you rent them. Don't plan too many day trips, they'll wear you out and you won't have time to set back and enjoy the hotel beach and pool. We had 4 booked, but cancelled the latter two, because we were too pooped!
10. Everything is expensive in Cancun, because it's a tourist area. So be prepared to bring along at least $1,000 - $1,500 for food, activities, shopping and souvenirs. And because this is not an all-inclusive hotel. But, it's well worth the stay. All of the rooms have ocean-side views, so there's not a bad view in any room.
The staff is very friendly and do not mind speaking english. Good luck and have fun!
