MARK AND DANETTE’S TRIP REPORT
2ND INSTALLMENT
HELP! I’VE FALLEN AND I CAN’T GET UP!!!!

Okay, back to the trip report. Back in the room, I decided that the Jacuzzi was looking real good. Asked Mark to find some champagne and started to put the scented bubble bath in the running water. Mark was gone for quite awhile (seems he had to bribe a bartender for the bottle of champagne). While he was gone, I decided to try the Jacuzzi – aaah – Heaven. Anyway, I get out of the Jacuzzi and somehow manage to slip on the nice marble floor. This was no ordinary slop - –h no – this was a full-blown, legs out in front, three feet off the ground slip! Landed right on my butt – or tailbone to be exact. The same one I broke some 15 years ago. OUCH!!! Hit my head on the marble steps as well. Laid there for a while. Couldn’t believe what just happened. Then the pain came. Thought I was paralyzed at first – couldn’t move. Then, I tried to get up and I couldn’t – kept slipping and falling. Funny now, but at the time I freaked. Mark returns – TADA! Champagne in hand - hidden under a green towel. Sees me on the floor crying. I ended up going to bed and Mark sat in the Jacuzzi with his bottle of Champagne – Alone. (Glum, Saddness).

Important tip: The floors are marble. Common sense would tell you to be careful if the floor is wet. However, I must admit that alcohol might have played (OK – OK – It DID play) a MAJOR role in my stupidity. There are three rugs in the room, one on each side of the bed and one at the vanity. I would suggest one be moved to the front of the Jacuzzi even though there is a towel to use. You see – the towel was shaped like a swan, and well, it was just so cute!, I didn’t want to mess it up. (OK – OK – I WAS DRUNK)! GEEZ!!

Day 2:

Woke up – sore butt. Hangover. Had breakfast and took the 12:00pm shuttle to the Sun Palace. You need to book the shuttle at least a day in advance. We did this while waiting for our room the previous day. Couldn’t believe the beach – just beautiful! The Moon Palace beach and water just DOES NOT compare (more on that later). We hung out at the pool area and the beach. Had some nachos and pizza and sat in the outdoor Jacuzzi. Yes – I was brave enough to attempt the Jacuzzi! We changed at the Sun Palace and took the bus to the FACB – on our way to the Chatter’s Meeting. The FACB – WOW! I loved the pool area and the beach. Mark was impressed with the lobby area. It was just beautiful. We must admit that we haven’t seen the other hotels (with the exception of the Palace Resorts), but tis one just blew us away. I’m not sure if the pool is larger than Moon Palace or not, either way it’s close. After exploring the FACB, we headed to the Deli-Mart an hour early. Sat and had more nachos and beer. Met Ralph and Michelle first. Heard about their difficult start and journey to get to Cancun. Kudos to them for even making the Chatters meeting. Glad to hear they ended up having a great time! An interesting thing happened while we waited at the Deli-Mart. A British man got fairly upset with the waiter/bartender at the Deli-Mart. Seems he met a woman there and they shared a few beers. She got up to leave and paid his tab as well as her. When he was ready to go, maybe 10 minutes after she left, he asked for the tab. The waiter explained that the woman already settled the tab. Well this just pissed him off! He said it was embarrassing to him and that the next time – the waiter should ASK before accepting money for someone else’s tab. With that said, he stormed away, all upset that he received a few free beers. Go figure. It was pretty amusing – but the poor waiter felt bad.

Soon everyone else showed up. We had a great time! Finally got to meet everyone. It was very nice meeting Xavier and Monica (Laura and Perry’s friends), very, very sweet couple. We all took advantage of happy hour and then headed to Carlos and Charlie’s for dinner and more drinks. Had a blast, Penni posted most of what we did and Rich posted the picture with the band. Somewhere toward the end of our dinner, Mark informs me that we need to find an ATM if we are to get a Taxi back to the Moon Palace. Can’t take the bus – doesn’t go that far. See – we had money, we just didn’t bring enough with us that day (THAT is what I get for allowing him to handle the finances – UGH!) LOL. Well – Rich and Michelle offer to take us back, it’s out of their way, but they take us anyway. THANKS SO MUCH!!!! This was probably the most funny part of our trip. They took us past their condo and told us stories about living there. I was amazed at some things – yes – call me naïve – but doesn’t condo. Complex have modern washers and dryers or at least – hook ups? Anyway, Rich missed on of the topes and we kinda flew right over it. Pretty funny – but his shocks might not have thought so. Get to the Moon Palace “guard station” and drive past. Wrong thing to do I guess. Have to stop and back up and as we do – we hit something. Rich hopes out loud that it’s not a person. Ends up being one of those road cones. Anyway – we were suppose to stop and “check in” – we have to show our wrist bands and tell them our room number. Then off to the Palace. We couldn’t stop laughing about this the next day. You had to be there, it was just too funny. Again, maybe we had a little alcohol, but you should’ve been there! Thanks again Rich and Michelle!!

Day 3:

At this point – we decide that this is going to be a “relaxing trip”. We had planned to book 2 tours and then take the 2 free tours offered at the hotel. We just decided that I couldn’t walk too far and besides, we needed to be away from it all and not deal with people and tours. Wanted to get up when we felt like it, do what we wanted, etc. So after breakfast, we laid out by the pool most of the day. Mark was suppose to tell me when my back was getting red so I could turn over. I guess we both forgot. Day 3 – Major sun burned legs (scarlet/purple). Get back to the room and have dinner at the Mexican restaurant. The food was good. Sat outside overlooking the beach and had a few pina-coladas. Then the smell of grilled steaks and chicken overcame us (they were barbecuing outside next to the pool) – we wanted to eat – but we just weren’t hungry. Oh what torture! Heard the steaks were great. Back to the room early. Tried the Jacuzzi – burned my legs even more. Okay – now I have a busted butt, AND a severe sunburn on my legs. BUT – Does this ruin my vacation? NAH! Gotta be kidding! I’m not EVEN finished yet…..
