With all the stress of the preceding school year, the Robinson Club was a Godsend. The resort is very comfortable. It's not extravagant by any means. It was just what the doctor ordered. There is no party, party, party like some resorts we have been to. Mostly peace and quiet...nothing but the sound of the ocean breaking on that beautiful beach. It seems that most of the guests were after the same thing that we were... a nice relaxing vacation on the beach.
I was concerned about going to a German owned resort...knowing that Americans would be in the minority. Those concerns quickly vanished the night we arrived. We sat down to eat in the restaurant that night and another couple joined us (the restaurant only has tables for eight). They were very friendly and wanted to know all about us and Texas. The next morning we discovered that they worked there. Yvonne (from Mexico City)was especially nice. She works in the kids club. Every time we ran into her she always spoke to us and wanted to know how we were doing.
The main language is German, but the staff repeats everything in English. Once they get to know you and your family, the staff will speak to you in English.
The beach is the main activity area. The pool is nice, but we hardly saw anyone in it. There is a nude area just north of the pool...over by the spas and meesage hut. It's fenced off and has a private pool. We didn't participate in that ritual either.
The best thing about the resort, besides the beach is the food. It was fabulous. Even the night we had leftovers, it was delicious. The resort employs German and Mexican chefs...not cooks. These guys are there at dinner preparing the food in front of you. So, nothing is cold and they explain what it is they are preparing. I have been to quite a few AI's including 2 cruises. This was the best food by a long shot. NO CONTEST!
For those of ya'll offended by toplessness, this is not the place to come. The Germans go topless...period. They will bring a couple of swimming suits to the beach...if they want to change, they change on the beach...in front of God and everybody. I was concerned about my two boys 13 & 17 being exposed to such "heathen" behavior. They could have cared less. They had too much fun snorkeling, fishing, playing ball, etc. I'm sure they noticed, but Mom and Dad didn't make a big deal out of it...so why should they. Besides, after the first day you know what everybody looks like...so it wasn't a big deal.
All things said and done, I can recommend this resort for anyone seeking a nice stressless vacation. Don't come here to party... you'll be disappointed. I didn't go to party. So, it was exactly what I was looking for... a beautiful beach to sit on and sip cool beverages.
