Spent one week at the Aventura Palace Feb 17-24...6 in our group. Don't want to repeat what others have said, but thought you'd appreciate my observations:
Loved: NO kids...no Spring Breakers...Mexican people...Playa del Carmen at night, especially the north end of town-so charming...Karen's Pizza-live music- best we heard....back to the resort- lagoon was great! 2 foot baracuda, many colorful fish at inlets....pool was refreshing and clean-stayed till sun was setting most afternoons then off to our rooms to the personal 2 seat jacuzzi- we all managed to turn the jets on too soon and sprayed the window!
enjoyed our free tour(Monday) to Tulum and Akumal so much that we signed up to go again on Wed- skipped the tour and went right to the beach at Tulum and played in the water for an hour and half- then on to Akumal and snorkeled one hour then lunch at the beach restaurant- the BEST Margaritas- two rounds of those and a plate of the chili nachos and we were all set! back to the resort and had Mario at the pool bar "sustain the buzz" for us.
Some drawbacks: we were told by Luis, our Lomas travel Rep that it was high season and full, so the Specialty Rest. were NOT taking reservations- so first come, fill the place at 6pm seating, then they started the waiting list- it got a bit confusing, but the Beach rest was fine- not too long a wait ...and there was always the Buffet- many wonderful choices. Go with the flow- no problem, mon. When you did finally get into the Mexican restaurant, the evening was delightful- 2 1/2 hr dinner- great service, food, drinks- try the specialty coffees just for the show! We ate so late every night that we missed the entertainment most nights, but we did enjoy casino night.
Also- when you check in- look at your room and if it's not to your liking- GO BACK tO DESK. we did and got what we wanted- 3rd floor overlooking pool and ocean, king bed.
