Jack Tar was by far one of the most fun and energized places in Cancun. We just got back on December 9, 2001.
I checked the "trip reports" page before I left and was scared at first I had chose the wrong hotel, according to two other reports, but I'm glad I did not change.
I am in my late 20's and for a great time, with lots of action, friendly, party people - this IS the place to be.
If you are older or want a more relaxing environment, I would choose one of the more 'upscale' resorts.
There were times the resort was quiet, early mornings and afternoons were for relaxing and even when we wanted to go to bed it was not excessively noisy.
We had an ocean view room and that was like waking up to a postcard!
The food was absolutly wonderful and there was an abundance of it - the drinks were outstanding! The bartender even let me mix my OWN drink because I had asked for a little extra "kick"!
The shows and skits were great. Our room was nice - furniture, etc. was not elegant, but it was nice and clean - and the maids were so friendly and paid attention to EVERY detail!
EVERYONE in this hotel from the busboys, to the front desk staff to the poolside staff were AMAZING!
Jack Tar wants you to have fun and they go out of thier way to make sure you do.
