Trip was August 10 - August 14th.

Saturday-arrived at 6:00 PM out of the airport and to the hotel by 8:00 PM. Check in was easy and we were given a jr. suite...this was a very comfy room considering there were five of us. But we were called and informed that we must move by noon on Sunday, because this room had already been reserved by someone else. So we told them we wanted a room similar to that..we were told no problem...our rooms turned out to be standard rooms overlooking the storage area for the beach chairs...but considering we were on the 2nd floor and we didn't spend too much time in the rooms..it would do...Rooms are nice, clean, beds not too hard, they had eggshell matress covers on them, big nice bath towels...but there was a bad sewage problem the last few days and the smell was terrible and our toilet would not flush properly...also found that the toilets down in the lobby didn't work well either.....
The activies staff here is WONDERFUL....they keep you going, even when you don't really feel like participating...they seem to have a way of making you say..."Ok...I'll do it" they aren't forceful, just pleasant gentlemen.....Victor, Shaggy and Albert, made our days in the sun...events, not just lazy days....It was a good thing....be "careful" if you partake of the free kayak trip...it was good exercise, but if you aren't familiar with the kayaks and how to turn them, then the areas in the jungle you go are hard to navigate, but we did have a wonderful time, and Victor was our guide for that...We never had any trouble with time share....The beach bar is excellent....the drinks are good, but they are weak....we could drink from sun up to sun down and unless you were drinking beer or shots you didn't really get a buzz....Alberto, Eduardo, David, Alchuro and Julio are very entertaining...and Eduardo makes the strongest drinks......
Food at the Buffet....tried it...didn't like "most" of it....the made to order omelets were ok, toast, juices, ice cream (was great), and fruit was eatible....the Al A Carte restraunt was good, you could order what you wanted and everything I had was good, Food at the Gran Caribe (sister hotel, and part of the A/I option) is alot better...... The Real Bazare....hotel gift shop....be leary...we bought a magazine, bottle of sun tan lotion and a pack of cigeretts and it cost $27.00 USD....we have them $30.00 USD and they refused to give us change, even in pesos, and when we asked why, they said that was a surcharge for using USD....we also ran across this at Senor Frogs, and several of the market shops. Better to use pesos for big purchases....we didn't find even at the flea market...any good "bargins"...we had a very difficult time finding any place to shop were we didn't feel as if we were being treated like common theives....they watched everything we did, in the flea markets they would grab a hold of you and pull you into their stores almost as a hostage until you bought something or ran out....T-Shirts are sometimes better prices in the actual restraunts than they are at the "markets"....Jewelry is where the money is to be saved....a 14K gold ankle bracelet, a sterling silver, topaz, bracelet for $250.00 USD....and they have been appraised by a local jewler and been valued at over $800.00 USD...so we got a bargin.....Senor Frogs...is ok...very interactive...they like the customers taking part in the activities going on...did not eat here, just had drinks and they were 10.00 USD for a yard...and 4.00 USD to walk in the door for a cover charge......I found things to be very high priced....I purchased 3 sodas and a can of Pringles chips at a "market" and it cost me 97.00 pesos...or $10.00 USD...the exchange rate at the time was 9.20 pesos per USD.....the buses are a thing that everyone that goes to Cancun needs to experience...and I mean experience....get in and hang on....!!!!! Be careful if at night you are walking the areas by the malls...little children will walk up and just put bracelets around your wrist and then look at you and say $5.00 USD....and they will not take the bracelets off...I have to remove them myself and hand it back to the little boy and he turned away from me when I told him I didn't want it. The people in general outside of the hotel were very rude and acted as if they were doing us a favor by letting us come and pay our money to be there.....I have been back 5 days and 4 out of the 5 I have been unable to hold down or in solid food, I have been to the dr. to try and get better....I did not drink the water, but the ice that the "frozen" drinks are made with is questionable....this is the only water I ingested. I think Cancun is a beautiful place and the "hotel area" was wonderful, but out side those walls, things just went to HELL....I understand the way of life is very difficult there and that the people are doing the best they can with what have, but I don't believe I will be going back there anytime soon. I wish I had better things to say, but this is my honest opion....sorry Cancun lovers.......
