Isla Mujeres 2010
Day 22-24
March 5-7
March 5 – Day 22
There’s been so much wind this year that it has been a rare sighting to see the fishermen heading out early in the mornings. Today the seas are nice and calm…
It’s a perfect start to another perfect day…
During our breakfast on the balcony some young people decide that it would be fun to climb the rock….
I can only imagine how many cuts and scrapes they must have gotten!
The water is still and gorgeous today…
Once we make our way to Playa Norte, we just sit back and say ‘ahhhhh’….
A first for us……can’t recall the fishermen coming right up to shore in this area of Playa Norte to clean their fish. It wasn’t exactly the most delicious thing to see fish guts floating in our big blue bathtub, but this is a busy little fishing island and it’s just part of the daily ritual…
It looks like we will be enjoying a pretty sunset today….
We decide to hop on the moped and watch it from the malecon area near the airport…
When we get home we find Colin playing with Lucky. He’s been on a long walk again, lucky boy!
We join Stacy and Colin for dinner at Angelo’s tonight…Stacy had grilled shrimp, which she said were yummy…
Colin had ribs…also very good…
Vince had parmesan….oops, I mean pasta generously topped with parmesan!
I had a half Cuban sandwich from the Cuban restaurant across the street, but forgot to take a photo! During dinner, Darcy and Barry join us….more wine is ordered….more laughter followed!....We wobble all the way home!

March 6 – Day 23
Not quite sure what happened to the sunrise today….maybe my eyes were still in my glass of red wine!
It was another perfect beach day of course…and it was the day that Vince tried to discover how many ways you can photograph a cerveza….Here we go….
It doesn’t take very much to keep him busy and entertained!
For dinner tonight we went with Stacy and Colin to Jax. A guitar player that they had met in Puerto Morelos was playing at Jax. He was great. We’ve never eaten at Jax before and were pleasantly surprised. It was a great spot to sit up on the outside deck and the food and service were great. Vince and Stacy both had tacos….
We had a leisurely stroll home, with a pit stop for ice cream….perfect nightcap!
March 7 – Day 24
Not a perfect sunrise today, but they are all beautiful in their own way….
On the way to the beach, Vince stops to take some photos of this jeep that has been parked in the same spot for a number of days. He was intrigued by it as it was made completely of stainless steel….very cool….
My turn with the camera….this is the type of scenery that I find intriguing…
Today the water is simply stunning….one of my favourite photos this trip….
And as if the day couldn’t be any better….we zoom down to Zama’s to view the sunset. Such a peaceful spot at that time of day…..
It is probably one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen on Isla….it went on forever!...
Ok, so Vince had to have one with a cerveza in it….
After the sun had dipped below the horizon, the clouds far above in the sky looked like they were on fire….it was amazing…
We’re so lazy today that we drive our moped into centro, parking just off Hidalgo, and walk a few short steps to Rolandi’s. Just had a craving for one of their pizzas today and it did not disappoint….
Only a few more days left in this paradise called ‘Isladise’!
