Isla Mujeres 2010
Day 30
March 13
March 13 – Day 30
How did it get to be our last full day in Isladise already?
The mixed emotions arrive as I sit and enjoy the display…..joy for the beginning of another beautiful day, and sadness that I will only see one more of these amazing sunrises. It’s funny how time passes on Isla….the first week is slow while you just get settled into your surroundings….the second week becomes a bit of a blur….the third week you begin to realize that there is only one week left….and the fourth week slips by in a blink of an eye. If only time could stand still….
Bright and early we are off on the moped, driving down the east side to enjoy the views…
Stopping at a beach to gather a bit more sea glass….
We all love the blue hues of Playa Norte, but the wildness of the east side of the island is also beautiful….
We drive through the colonias, always enjoying the happy crayola display of colours everywhere…
Just as Vince’s stomach starts to growl, we pass near the Mange Café…..breakfast!!!!
He has a chile relleno….very yummy…..looks good enough to eat, doesn’t it!
Crunchy outside, filled to perfection…..
Would you like a bite?!
If you’re hungry for good food, this is the place!....
And across the street, the Blue Iguana…..didn’t get to try it this time, but definitely will next time!
Back on the moped continuing down the east side…
The sidewalk goes almost all the way to Punta Sur now….
And then, as we round the corner at the very southern tip of the island, there it is, that gorgeous water that never ceases to take my breath away….
An elaborate wall that was never completed….
The never-ending waves….
Mr. Iguana…..he smiled for me!
A beautiful hidden beach…
This is why you don’t stand near the edge….
Time for the beach and some relaxation!
The famous bird poles!
Could you balance on one foot atop this pole?
The lighthouse…
Vince is hungry again so he dashes across the street for a take-out order of fish and chips from Jax….delish!
Back to our room to drop off the beach gear, stopping to enjoy the soft colours of the sunset to the east…
We hop on the moped and view the perfect last sunset ….
And then it’s time for dinner with our amigos!
Jean and Rich
Jan and Bruce
We enjoy the evening as long as we can and then it’s time to dash home to finish up the packing. It’s late when we finally turn out the lights, but there is no sleep for me…..it was party night at La Luna and the bass was pounding until 4am. Might as well sit out on the balcony and enjoy every second of the coming sunrise……to be continued…….
