Today, I saw a sign for a new Mambo Cafe in downtown Cancun. Mambo Cafe is a salsa club and they have a live salsa band nightly. A while back, there was a major fire at Mambo Cafe’s old downtown location and they have been closed ever since that tragedy. They later opened a Mambo Cafe in the hotel zone, but I believe that has closed. (I’m not 100% sure about that location being closed, however.)

The sign on the front entrance of the new club said it was opening soon and then, in typical Cancun fashion, didn’t say anything else. The sign closer to the street simply said “September 19 & 20″. I’m guessing that means they’ll open that weekend. Your guess is as good as mine.
Regardless of when they open, I wish them luck in their new location!

The new Mambo Cafe is located in Plaza Las Avenidas (on Yaxchilan Avenue, between Av. Coba and Av. Xcaret). Tourists traveling by bus from Cancun’s hotel zone should be able to find the nightclub easily.
